Footprint Butterfly Flower Pots – Teacher Gifts 2013

by Kyla on December 17, 2013 · 12 comments

Last year we made hand print flowerpots for Dexter’s teachers, this year he wanted to do footprints so, after a pinterest search for ideas, we came up with these.

Foot Print Butterflies
Footprint Butterfly Flower Pots (Filled with chocolates)
I love them, we picked up some nice pots and used Micador acrylic paints for the footprints, painting directly on his feet then pressing against the pots to form the ‘wings’. Dex then helped me paint the antenna & body. I sprayed the pots with a matte sealant before lining the pots with cellophane and loading them up with chocolate. So easy.

It’s times like this, I wish I was a primary teacher… High School teachers just don’t get many cute presents!

Oh yeah, I imagine as the kids get older the presents get less too.

What a great idea…even for grandparents etc. Will have to keep this one in my back pocket for next year! Thanks for the inspiration.

We kept one of these for the in-laws and I’m sure they’ll love it.

Those are a wonderful idea. Could definitely see grandparents, aunts and uncles using these, too, like Kira said. We did the boring old coffee shop gift cards! Have been thinking of you lately – how are you?

I’m ok hon, thanks for asking. We kept one of these for the in-laws, Dex was insistent that he also make one for them – now I have to cart the damn thing to Melbourne though!

Posted before I was finished. I was going to say that if I was a teacher or daycare provider I would adore a present just like this – we did wine this year!

Oh what a sweet and simple idea! I love homemade gifts. I was talking with my mother in law last night about how in Holland it is tradition to always give something small but thoughtful and usually homemade. There is no concept of buying trampolines or whatever for Christmas. I thought that was lovely! My 3yo also asserts that homemade gifts are the best! x
